The Kansas City Royals recalled pitcher Vin Mazzaro from Triple-A Omaha Tuesday.
The 25-year-old righty was 1-1 with an 8.26 earned run average in seven games -- four starts -- with the Royals last season.
In three major league seasons, the New Jersey native has posted an 11-18 record with a 5.13 ERA in 48 games, 39 of which were starts, with Kansas City and Oakland.
Kansas City optioned pitcher Tommy Hottovy to Omaha to make room on the roster for Mazzaro.
Hottovy has made five appearances out of the bullpen for the Royals this season, pitching to a 3.38 ERA with no decisions.
