The San Diego Padres optioned outfielder Blake Tekotte to Triple-A Tucson and selected the contract of pitcher Alex Hinshaw from Tucson on Tuesday.
Tekotte was recalled from Tucson on April 28 and went 0-for-3 with a stolen base in five games with the Padres.
Hinshaw has not appeared in a major league game since 2009 with San Francisco, pitching to a 12.00 ERA in six innings of relief through nine appearances.
The 29-year-old left-hander has a 3.72 earned run average with 18 strikeouts and 10 walks through 14 relief outings for Tucson this season.
Also on Tuesday, San Diego transferred pitcher Micah Owings from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
