The New York Mets placed catcher Josh Thole on the seven-day disabled list with a concussion and selected the contract of catcher Rob Johnson from Triple-A Buffalo.

Thole was injured during a home plate collision with the Phillies' Ty Wigginton in the eighth inning Monday.

In 26 games this season, Thole is batting .284 with a home run and seven RBI.

Johnson was hitting .291 with three doubles, two homers and seven RBI in 15 games with the Bisons. He spent the entire 2011 campaign with San Diego, batting .190 in 67 games.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Johnson, the Mets transferred pitcher Pedro Beato to the 60-day disabled list.
