Angels' Weaver claims AL Weekly honor

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitcher Jered Weaver has been named the American League Player of the Week for the period ending May 6.

Weaver tossed the ninth individual no-hitter in Angels history on May 2 against Minnesota, throwing 77 of his 121 pitches for strikes.

The two-time All-Star struck out a season-high nine batters while issuing just one walk and allowing just one other baserunner on a passed ball during a strikeout in the outing.

Other noteworthy performances last week included Weaver's teammate Jerome Williams, Seattle infielder Kyle Seager and pitcher Felix Hernandez, Cleveland infielders Jason Kipnis and Asdrubal Cabrera, and Blue Jays pitchers Brandon Morrow and Henderson Alvarez.
