Rockets G Lowry has successful surgery

Houston Rockets guard Kyle Lowry underwent successful surgery on Tuesday to repair a sports hernia.

He is expected to resume his regular offseason training in six-to-eight weeks.

Lowry, 26, played in 47 games this season for the Rockets while averaging 14.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game -- both career-highs -- as well as 6.6 assists per contest.

Houston finished the 2011-12 campaign 34-32, two games behind the Utah Jazz for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

In six NBA seasons with Memphis and the Rockets, the Villanova product has career averages of 10.4 points and 4.8 assists.
