The Seattle Mariners activated outfielder Mike Carp off the 15-day disabled list and recalled him from a rehab assignment at Triple-A Tacoma.

Carp suffered a sprained right shoulder in Seattle's season-opening game against Oakland in Japan while diving for a ball in the outfield.

In 79 games last season, Carp belted 12 homers, drove in 46 runs and batted .276. He had appeared in a total of 35 games over the previous two seasons.

Also on Tuesday, the Mariners placed catcher Miguel Olivo on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right groin.

Olivo hit .210 with two doubles, three home runs and seven RBI through 23 games for Seattle this season.
