New Jersey Devils sniper Ilya Kovalchuk will miss Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Devils CEO Lou Lamoriello called it a lower body injury and would not comment further, saying only that the issue has been bothering him for "a couple of games."

"Ilya will not be in the lineup," Lamoriello stated. "He's back in New Jersey and he's day-to-day."

Kovalchuk has three goals and three assists in eight playoff games this spring, but has been a liability defensively with a minus-five rating.

In 77 games during the regular season, he led the Devils with 37 goals and 83 points.

The Flyers won the opener of the series, 4-3, in overtime on Sunday.
