The St. Louis Cardinals activated infielder/outfielder Allen Craig off the 15-day disabled list Tuesday.

Craig began the season on the DL while recovering from offseason surgery to repair a fractured right kneecap.

He initially injured the knee when he crashed into a wall at Houston's Minute Maid Park last June and missed over two months. However, he returned in August and was a huge factor for the Cardinals down the stretch as well as in the postseason where he hit four home runs, including three in the Cardinals' World Series victory over the Texas Rangers.

In 75 games last season, the 27-year-old hit .315 with 11 home runs and 40 runs batted in.

The Cardinals designated outfielder Erik Komatsu for assignment to make room on the active roster.

Komatsu has hit .211 with three runs scored through 15 games for St. Louis this season.
