The Detroit Tigers on Thursday recalled pitchers Brayan Villarreal and Luke Putkonen from their Triple-A affiliate in Toledo.

Villarreal has appeared in three games this season and has tossed 1 1/3 innings without allowing a run.

In his 2011 rookie season, the 24-year-old righty went 1-1 with a 6.75 earned run average in 16 full frames.

Villarreal takes the place of Adam Wilk, who was optioned to Toledo after Detroit's 9-1 loss to Seattle Wednesday. Wilk was 0-3 with an 8.18 ERA this season, and had allowed six runs on eight hits over just two-plus innings in Wednesday's defeat.

Putkonen replaces Thad Weber, who has allowed four runs in four innings since his recall on April 21. Weber was optioned to Toledo, while Putkonen will make his first appearance on a major league roster.
