Sacramento State will prepare for its Big Sky Conference schedule by kicking off its 2012 football schedule against two FBS opponents.

The Hornets, who finished 4-7 last year, will open the season on Aug. 30 at New Mexico State in their first meeting all-time against the Aggies.

Coach Marshall Speck's team will stay in FBS mode when it visits Colorado on Sept. 8.

Sacramento State last played two FBS teams in the same season in 2007.

Sacramento State's home opener will be against Northern Colorado on Sept. 15, although it won't count as a Big Sky conference game.

The Hornets' other home games will be conference matchups with North Dakota (Sept. 22), Weber State (Oct. 13), Cal Poly (Oct. 27) and Montana State (Nov. 3).

Their other road games are within the Big Sky at Idaho State (Sept. 29), Southern Utah (Oct. 6), Eastern Washington (Oct. 20) and UC Davis (Nov. 17). The final game will be the 59th Causeway Classic and could mark the final contest for longtime UC Davis head coach Bob Biggs, who will retire at the end of the season.
