World record-holder Patrick Makau wasn't selected for Kenya's Olympic team after he failed to finish the London Marathon.

Makau was not among the final six men and women chosen by Athletics Kenya on Wednesday for the London Games.

London Marathon winner Wilson Kipsang, two-time defending world champion Abel Kirui and Chicago titleholder Moses Mosop will compete for Kenya.

Mary Keitany, who won the women's race in London on Sunday, will return to compete at the Olympics. Reigning world champion Edna Kiplagat and Priscah Jeptoo, who finished second at the worlds, were also selected. All three were on the podium at the London Marathon.

Makau dropped out less than halfway through the race in London because of a leg injury.
