The New York Mets placed infielder Ronny Cedeno on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 21, with a left intercostal strain on Monday.

Cedeno has appeared in 10 games for the Mets this season, batting .250 with a .438 on-base percentage, one double and one RBI.

To replace him on the roster, New York has recalled pitcher Jeremy Hefner from Triple-A Buffalo.

Hefner has made three starts for Buffalo this season, pitching to a 2-1 record with a 1.96 ERA.

He will make his MLB debut if he appears in a game for the Mets.
