Vancouver Whitecaps FC ended its defensive woes with a clean sheet on Saturday, edging FC Dallas with a 1-0 win at BC Place to get back in the win column.

The 'Caps did not concede a goal in their opening four matches of the season, but the last two games have seen a total of six goals leaked at the back. A strong defensive effort Saturday, paired with an early goal from Camilo Sanvezzo, ultimately clinched three points for Martin Rennie's men for the first time since their 1-0 defeat of Chivas USA on March 17.

Vancouver went in front just 10 minutes into the match as Sanvezzo produced a certain Goal-of-the-Week contender.

The Brazilian made a weaving run through a couple of FC Dallas defenders on the left side of the box before curling a beautiful shot around Chris Seitz and just inside the far post.

Dallas pushed in search of a road equalizer but found nothing as Vancouver goalkeeper Joe Cannon made several key saves to preserve the shutout.

The result sees Vancouver snap a four-game winless streak while also putting an end to FC Dallas' two-game winning run.

The Whitecaps (3-2-2) will hit the road for their next match as they get set to face the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium on April 28.

FC Dallas (3-3-1) will return home for a Wednesday meeting with Real Salt Lake before heading to The Home Depot Center for a tilt against the Los Angeles Galaxy on April 28.
