Michael Allen and David Frost combined for a 10-under 62 on Sunday to win the Legends of Golf event by a single stroke.

Allen and Frost finished at 29-under 187 and edged the team of John Cook and Joey Sindelar, who shot an 11-under 61 Sunday, at Savannah Harbor Golf Resort.

"We did very well together, that's for sure," Allen said in a televised interview.

Brad Bryant and Tom Purtzer, who shared the second-round lead with Allen and Frost, carded an eight-under 64 and tied for third with Andy Bean and Chien- Soon Lu (62) and Brad Faxon and Jeff Sluman (63). The three teams came in at 27-under par.

This event, which is credited as the genesis for the Champions Tour, featured two-man teams in a better-ball format.

Allen and Frost started well with birdies at one and two, but three pars in a row from the third derailed any momentum.

Back-to-back birdies at six and seven got them back on track and Allen rolled in a nine-foot birdie putt at the ninth to get his side to 24-under par.

Frost sank a five-footer for birdie at the next and the pair recorded a birdie at the par-five 11th. Allen nearly made a long eagle try at the par-five 13th, but he tapped in for birdie to trail Cook and Sindelar by a stroke.

That all changed at the short, 277-yard, par-four 14th.

After Allen hit a terrible drive, Frost was just short and right with his tee ball. He holed his long chip for an eagle to vault to the top of the leaderboard at 29-under par.

"Pressure was on me," Frost said on TV. "I got lucky with a chip, I guess."

Cook and Sindelar were in the clubhouse at 28-under par, so Allen and Frost had to hold on down the stretch.

They did just that.

In a driving rain on the 18th hole, Allen nearly sank a long birdie try, but settled for par and a one-stroke victory.

For Frost, it was his second Champions Tour victory. His lone trip to the winner's circle came at the 2010 3M Championship.

Allen won last week's Encompass Insurance Pro-Am of Tampa Bay and is now the only multiple winner this season on the Champions Tour.

"Coming in, I felt awfully good," Allen said. "I knew I was playing really solid and well. I think it's certainly part of a carry-over."

Fred Couples and Jay Haas had an eight-under 64 on Sunday and tied for sixth with Corey Pavin and Gary Hallberg, who teamed for a nine-under 63. The two pairs finished at minus-26.

Andy North and Bobby Clampett came in eighth at 25-under 191.
