Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson is out for Wednesday's Game 4 of an Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against the New York Rangers due to a concussion.
Alfredsson suffered the concussion in Game 2 after he was elbowed in the head by New York's Carl Hagelin, who will sit out a second straight game as he was handed a three-game suspension for the hit.
The 39-year-old Alfredsson participated in practice on Monday morning and had passed a baseline concussion test, but opted to sit out Game 3 and hasn't skated since then.
Ottawa trails the best-of-seven series, 2-1, and has scored just five goals in the three games.
