For the first time in four weeks someone other than Red Bull New York forward Thierry Henry was named the Major League Soccer Player of the Week as the honor went to Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy for Week 6.

Kennedy recorded four saves and a clean sheet in Chivas USA's 1-0 victory over Toronto FC on Saturday, marking the first time in Kennedy's career he has won the honor.

The goalkeeper is also the first Chivas USA player to win the award since Justin Braun claimed it in May 2011.

With Chivas clinging to a 1-0 lead Kennedy put together a few crucial stops down the stretch to preserve the win, including one on TFC forward Danny Koevermans in the 89th minute at point-blank range.

The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, radio media. More information can be found at soccerreporters.com.
