The Boston Red Sox selected the contracts of outfielder Jason Repko and utility player Nate Spears from Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday.

The 31-year-old Repko hit .226 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 67 games for the Twins last season, while Spears had four plate appearances in three games with the Red Sox last year.

To make room for them on the 40-man roster, Boston designated catcher Luis Esposito and pitcher Michael Bowden for assignment.

In addition, the Red Sox optioned outfielder Che-Hsuan Lin to Pawtucket.
