Tyrone Van Aswegen was six-under par through 14 holes and that helped him move two strokes clear of the field Saturday with the third round of the TPC Stonebrae Championship suspended by darkness.

Van Aswegen stands at 10-under par for the championship at TPC Stonebrae.

Several delays have pushed the tournament back. If there are no delays on Sunday, players should easily have enough time to finish the third and fourth rounds.

The third round is slated to resume Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. (ET).

Thirty-six of the 70 players that made the cut earlier Saturday were able to complete their third rounds before darkness set in.

Brian Stuard is alone in second place at eight-under par. He was three-under through 12 holes of round three.

Jim Renner (17 holes) and Michael Putnam (12 holes) share third place at minus-three.

Putnam shared the second-round lead with Paul Haley II and James Nitties. Haley has slipped into a tie of sixth at minus-five, while Nitties has lost two shots through 12 holes to slide into a share of ninth at four-under par.

Wes Roach is the clubhouse leader at five-under-par 205. He carded a three- under 67 in round three.

Van Aswegen, who has one top-15 finish in four starts this year, ran off three straight birdies to open his round. After three pars, he stumbled to a bogey on the seventh.

The South African recovered that stroke with a birdie on the par-five ninth. Around the turn, Van Aswegen again ran off three consecutive birdies from the 12th to grab the lead at minus-10.

NOTES: With all of the starting and stopping, 13 players withdrew before finishing two rounds...Former PGA Champion Steve Elkington missed the cut by 10 strokes...Daniel Chopra, last year's winner, missed the cut by four shots after rounds of 74-73.
