The San Diego Padres have recalled pitcher Brad Brach from Triple-A Tucson and placed pitcher Tim Stauffer on the 15-day disabled list.
Stauffer, who has a strained right elbow, went 9-12 with a 3.73 earned run average in 31 starts for the Padres last season.
The 25-year-old Brach will make his first appearance on an Opening Day roster. He made his MLB debut with San Diego last year, going 0-2 with a 5.14 ERA in nine relief appearances.
In addition, right-handed pitcher Erik Hamren cleared outright waivers and was assigned to Double-A San Antonio.
