The Atlanta Braves signed veteran reliever Chad Durbin to a one-year deal on Tuesday.
Durbin, 34, signed with Atlanta after being let go by the Washington Nationals earlier on Tuesday. He went 2-2 with a 5.53 earned-run average in 56 appearances last season with the Cleveland Indians.
Over 12 major league seasons, Durbin has also spent time with Kansas City, Arizona, Detroit, and Philadelphia. In 364 career games, he holds a record of 38-46 with four saves, 512 strikeouts, and 328 walks.
Durbin also was a key bullpen piece for the 2008 World Series champion Phillies.
The Braves also reassigned pitcher Yohan Flande to Triple-A Gwinnett.
