Celtic's 2-0 win over St Johnstone at Parkhead on Sunday moved the club to within one point of clinching the Scottish Premier League title.

St Johnstone frustrated Celtic in a scoreless first half and should have taken the lead a few minutes after the break when Cillian Sheridan missed the net from six yards.

The missed chance proved costly for the visiting side as Celtic snatched the lead in the 66th minute when Kris Commons floated a free kick to the back post for Georgios Samaras to finish off with his head.

The Greek striker had a hand in the Hoops doubling their lead four minutes later when his cross into the penalty area was redirected into his own net by St Johnstone's Chris Millar, sealing the win.

Celtic will travel to Kilmarnock next Saturday needing only a point to lift the trophy, while St Johnstone saw its six-match unbeaten streak come to an end as the side continues to chase a place in Europe.

Hibernian 3, Inverness 2

Inverness, Scotland - A goal from Leigh Griffiths in the 85th minute helped Hibernian seal a valuable 3-2 win at Inverness on Sunday, moving Hibs six points clear of the bottom.

The match remained scoreless until the hour mark when Greg Tansey put the home side ahead from the penalty spot before goals from Paul Hanlon and Garry O'Connor 12 minutes apart gave Hibs a 2-1 advantage.

Jonathan Hayes appeared to earn Inverness a share of the points with his goal in the 83rd minute, but Griffiths found the lower corner of the net with a left-footed shot a few minutes later to allow Hibernian to leave with all three points.
