Uniondale, NY – The New York Islanders have signed goaltender John Grahame for the remainder of the season.
Grahame has not played an NHL game since the 2007-08 season with Carolina. The 36-year-old veteran has 97 wins with 12 shutouts and a 2.79 goals-against average in 224 NHL games with Carolina, Tampa Bay and Boston. He was a member of Tampa Bay's Stanley Cup championship team in the spring of 2004.
The Islanders could be without goaltender Evgeni Nabokov heading into the final five games of the season. Nabokov, just signed to a new deal for next season, suffered a lower body injury during New York's win over Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
New York has recalled goaltender Kevin Poulin from its American Hockey League affiliate in Bridgeport on an emergency basis to back up Al Montoya for Thursday's game against Pittsburgh.
