Mets bring back P Young

The New York Mets and pitcher Chris Young agreed to terms on a minor-league contract, the team announced on Monday.

Young spent the 2011 campaign with the Mets and held a 1-0 record with a 1.88 earned run average in four starts before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery to repair a tear in his right anterior shoulder capsule -- the same injury the sidelined teammate Johan Santana for the 2011 season.

The 6-foot-10 right-hander has been hampered by injuries of late, appearing in just eight games over the past two seasons.

A third-round pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2000, Young has appeared in 139 games -- all starts -- with the Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres and Mets over his eight-year career and holds a 49-34 record with a 3.74 ERA.
