Piscataway, NJ –  Rutgers sophomore Gilvydas Biruta informed the school of his intent to transfer on Wednesday.

"Gilvydas is a fine young man and we appreciate his contributions to the program. We wish him the best in his future endeavors, both on and off the court," said Rutgers head coach Mike Rice.

Biruta, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Lithuania, totaled 9.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest in 32 games for the Scarlet Knights a season ago.
