Charlotte, SC – The Carolina Panthers re-signed quarterback Derek Anderson on Tuesday.
Anderson signed with Carolina prior to last season and played behind No. 1 draft pick Cam Newton. He appeared in two games for the Panthers but did not attempt a pass.
The seven-year veteran has played in 53 career games, starting 43. He has thrown for 9,148 yards with 53 touchdowns and 55 interceptions.
His best year as a pro came in 2007 with the Browns when he completed 298- of-527 passes for 3,787 yards, 29 touchdowns and 19 interceptions, earning his lone Pro-Bowl appearance. He spent a season with the Arizona Cardinals before signing with Carolina.
