Tampa, FL – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed quarterback year contract.
Orlovsky started five games for Indianapolis last season, leading the Colts to their only two wins, but has served primarily as a backup throughout his seven NFL seasons. He will likely resume that role in Tampa Bay as the backup to Josh Freeman.
The 28-year-old Connecticut product completed 63.2 percent of his passes for 1,201 yards with six touchdowns and four interceptions in eight games overall for the Colts last season.
Last December's 27-13 win over Tennessee was the first victory as an NFL starter for Orlovsky, who had also started seven games for Detroit during its winless 2008 campaign.
Orlovsky spent four seasons with the Lions, then joined the Texans in 2009 and played one game in two years for Houston before signing with the Colts last summer. He was released by Indianapolis before the start of the season, then signed with the club again after a season-ending injury to Kerry Collins.
In 21 NFL games, including 12 as a starter, Orlovsky has thrown for 2,880 yards with 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
