Philadelphia, PA – PGA TOUR - TRANSITIONS CHAMPIONSHIP, The PGA Tour continues its Florida swing this week with the Transitions Championship.
Four of the top-10 players in the world will tee it up on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort. Former world No. 1 Luke Donald tops that list.
Donald, now No. 2, along with No. 6 Webb Simpson, No. 7 Jason Day and No. 9 Charl Schwartzel will be trying to take the title from Gary Woodland.
The big-hitting Woodland closed with back-to-back 67s to overtake Simpson for a one-stroke win.
Woodland had fallen behind Simpson with bogeys on 15 and 16, but came back with a birdie on the 17th to tie Simpson atop the leaderboard.
Woodland got up and down for par from the left of the green at the last to finish at 15-under. Simpson, in the group behind Woodland, hit his approach to nearly the same spot as Woodland did. However, Simpson failed to get up and down to give Woodland his first PGA Tour victory.
In the final round, Woodland made 17-of-17 putts from inside 20 feet.
Woodland is one of seven former winners in the field this week. Two of those seven, K.J. Choi and Retief Goosen, are two-time victors. Schwartzel, the reigning Masters champ, headlines 17 major champions that will be playing at Innisbrook this week.
Golf Channel has the broadcast for the first two rounds, while NBC picks up coverage on Saturday and Sunday.
The PGA Tour's Florida swing ends next week with the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where Martin Laird was a one-shot winner last year.
EUROPEAN TOUR
OPEN DE ANDALUCIA - Aloha Golf Club, Andalucia, Spain - Paul Lawrie snapped a nine-year winless drought last year as he held off Johan Edfors to win the Open de Andalucia.
Lawrie, whose last title before this event came at the 2002 Wales Open, closed with a 70 to hang on for a one-stroke victory.
The Scotsman picked up his seventh tour win earlier this year in Qatar. He is trying to gain a spot on the European Ryder Cup team for the first time since 1999.
The 1999 British Open champion will battle former major winners such as Rich Beem, Mike Weir, Michael Campbell and European Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal this week.
Heading the large Spanish contingent in the field are Olazabal and Miguel Angel Jimenez, whose management company is promoting this event.
This is the sixth straight year Jimenez is hosting the event and Aloha Golf Club will be the venue for the third time.
Golf Channel has four hours of coverage each day this week.
The European Tour heads to Morocco next week for the Trophee Hassan II. David Horsey downed Jaco Van Zyl and Rhys Davies to pick up his second tour title.
LPGA TOUR
RR DONNELLEY FOUNDERS CUP - Wildfire Golf Club at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, Phoenix, Arizona - In the first playing of the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup last year, Karrie Webb racked up her 38th LPGA Tour title.
Webb fended off Paula Creamer and Brittany Lincicome by one stroke as she closed with a 66. Creamer also closed with a 66, while Lincicome had a par putt at the last to force a playoff, but she missed from 10 feet out.
Angela Stanford led after two rounds, but stumbled to a three-over 75 to end alone in fifth. Last year, this event was just three rounds, but has been extended to four this year.
In year one of this tournament, all the prize money was donated to charity in honor of the founding members of the LPGA Tour. The players will keep their prize money this year.

The LPGA Tour heads to California next week for the first of two events on the west coast. First up is the Kia Classic, where Sandra Gal beat Jiyai Shin by one shot last year.
TOSHIBA CLASSIC - Newport Beach Country Club, Newport Beach, California - Nick Price went wire-to-wire last year as he won the Toshiba Classic by one shot.
Price opened with a course-record, 11-under 60 in the first round, then closed with back-to-back 68s to beat Mark Wiebe by a shot. Wiebe started with a pair of 65s before shooting 67 in the final round to end one back.
For Price, it marked his fourth victory on the Champions Tour. He has had three top-25 finishes on the Champions Tour in 2012, but withdrew from his last start at the PGA Tour stop in Mexico.
Jay Haas has three top-10s in the first three Champions Tour events this year, but is looking for his first Champions Tour win since last August.
Golf Channel will have coverage of all three rounds.
The tour heads to Biloxi next week for the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic, where Tom Lehman won by four strokes last year.
