Elliott Sadler continues to be hot in the desert after winning the pole position for Saturday's Sam's Town 300 Nationwide Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Sadler, who won last weekend's race at Phoenix, posted a lap at 181.366 mph around the 1.5-mile Las Vegas track for his 12th career Nationwide pole. His victory at Phoenix allowed him to take the points lead in the series.

Kasey Kahne claimed the outside pole with a lap at 181.044 mph. Kahne will start from the top starting position in Sunday's 400-mile race at Las Vegas after setting a new track qualifying record in Friday's qualifying for the Sprint Cup Series.

Rookie Austin Dillon, who is Sadler's teammate at Richard Childress Racing, qualified third, followed by Brian Scott and Brad Keselowski.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., the defending Nationwide champion, Mark Martin, Justin Allgaier, Brendan Gaughan and Jason Bowles, also a rookie in the series this year, will start sixth through 10th, respectively.

Martin won last year's Nationwide race at Las Vegas, driving for Turner Motorsports at the time. He is behind the wheel of No. 18 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing in this event.

Danica Patrick qualified 12th. One year ago, Patrick placed fourth at Las Vegas to become the highest finishing female ever in a NASCAR national touring series race.

All 43 drivers who attempted qualifying made the starting field for the 300- mile race, which is scheduled to start just after 5 p.m. (ET).
