The Denver Broncos have placed their franchise tag on kicker Matt Prater.

The 27-year-old Prater converted 19-of-25 field goals and made all 30 of his extra-point attempts last season.

John Elway, the Broncos' executive vice president of football operations, tweeted Monday: "Matt's a very talented kicker & important part of our team. This gives us the ability to continue working on a long-term agreement."

Prater has connected on 12 field goals of 50 yards or longer for his career.
