Washington, D.C. – D.C. United loaned defensive midfielder Conor Shanosky to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League on Friday for the 2012 season.
The 20-year-old Shanosky originally signed with D.C. United in August of 2010 as Homegrown Player, but has not made an appearance in Major League Soccer. He has played for the United States at the Under-20 level.
"This is a great opportunity for Conor to continue his development," said D.C. United General Manager Dave Kasper. "The loan to Ft. Lauderdale will allow him to get important first team experience on a regular basis, and we look forward to following his development."
D.C. United opens the 2012 MLS season March 10 at home against Sporting Kansas City.
