Macon, GA – Jacksonville, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Demarcus Daniels deposited 22 points with six rebounds off the bench to help North Florida win the Atlantic Sun title with a 63-57 win over USC Upstate on Sunday.
Jalen Nesbitt had 16 points and Dallas Moore added 13 points for the Ospreys (23-11).
Ty Greene finished with 21 points to lead the Spartans (23-11).
North Florida did not score until nearly five minutes into the game, but that basket from Moore tied the game at 2-2. Daniels converted a three-point play late in the half to start a 7-0 burst that gave the Ospreys a 12-point lead and they brought a 34-25 margin into the break.
Fred Miller made consecutive buckets as part of an 11-0 run to move the Spartans ahead by two. North Florida countered with a quick 6-0 burst to regain the lead.
Jacob Schulte's jumper pushed USC Upstate up by four with over nine minutes left, then the Ospreys essentially ended it with a 12-0 run as the Spartans were held scoreless for over six minutes.
USC Upstate shot 42.9 percent, while North Florida made 38.6 percent of its shots ... Chris Davenport had a game-high 10 rebounds in the win ... The Spartans shot 5-of-13 from the free throw line ... Each team had 38 rebounds.
