WBC bans Chisora indefinitely for Haye brawl

Dereck Chisora was given an indefinite suspension Tuesday fight brawl with fellow British boxer David Haye earlier this month.

The two boxers were involved in a scuffle during the news conference following Chisora's loss to Vitali Klitschko in a WBC heavyweight title fight in Munich, Germany, on February 18.

Chisora stood up from behind the microphone and walked to the back of the room where Haye had called out to him.

They exchanged punches and were separated, but Chisora later yelled: "I swear to God, David, I'm going to (expletive) shoot you!" He repeated the threat at least three more times.

In addition to Chisora's indefinite suspension, the WBC said it would remove his name from the rankings.

It said the boxer "is not going to tarnish the sport for those born in the humblest beds, who become sports heroes of the world to live a life of dignity and pride."

The WBC said Chisora's suspension would be reconsidered only after he receives treatment for anger management.

Chisora slapped Klitschko in the face during their weigh in and later spat in the face of Klitschko's brother, the heavyweight Wladimir, prior to the fight, which he lost in an overwhelming unanimous decision.
