AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes has been banned for three games after punching Juventus forward Marco Borriello.

Mexes struck Borriello in the kidney during the second half of Saturday's 1-1 draw. And although the incident was missed by referee Paolo Tagliavento, it was spotted by television cameras.

The France international has now been suspended for Milan's next three league games against Palermo, Lecce and Parma.

The former Roma man joined Milan over the summer and has appeared in nine Serie A matches for the Rossoneri this term.
