Kansas holds a huge 105-53 edge in the all-time series with Oklahoma State and has won the last four meetings, including an 81-66 triumph on February 11. The Jayhawks had an unbelievable offensive performance in the opening half against the Cowboys in their initial meeting, as they shot 63.3 percent from the field and scored 51 points.
Head coach Bill Self led Kansas to at least a share of its eighth straight Big 12 regular-season championship this season. The Jayhawks outlasted their toughest competition in the league on Saturday as they downed the Missouri Tigers, 87-86, in an overtime thriller at Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas had yet another solid offensive performance in the matchup with Mizzou, as it hit 48.3 percent of its field goal attempts, including 9-of-19 from beyond the arc. A win tonight would give KU outright possession of the league's regular-season title.
The Jayhawks are led by the dynamic duo of Thomas Robinson and Tyshawn Taylor. Robinson is leading the team with averages of 17.8 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. The junior forward was sensational his last time out, as he scored 28 points and grabbed 12 boards to push the Jayhawks past Missouri. Taylor is one of the best point guards in the nation this season. The senior guard added 24 points and five assists in the successful outing against the Tigers. Conner Teahan got into the mix in the bout with Missouri as well, as he chipped in 12 points off the bench after he went 4-of-4 from beyond the arc.
Oklahoma State will attempt to improve its 14-15 record on Senior Night tonight. The Cowboys improved their league record to 7-9 on Saturday with a 60-42 victory over the Texas A&M Aggies. OSU limited the Aggies to 31.9 percent shooting in the contest. Head coach Travis Ford has thrived with his team in the role of underdog already this season, as he led his squad to a 79-72 upset of then No. 2 Missouri Tigers on Jan. 25th behind a 27-point performance from Le'Bryan Nash. The Cowboys were without Nash in their recent win over Texas A&M as his is sidelined with an injury. The Cowboys have been outscored by their opponents by an average 0.2 ppg.
With Nash's availability in question, Oklahoma State's guards Brian Williams and Keiton Page will need to be the driving force behind an upset victory. The duo combined for 32 points on Saturday versus Texas A&M. Markel Brown added 12 points in the same contest. Freshman Michael Cobbins will play a big role in tonight's contest. Cobbins had blocked 45 shots this season and finished with nine rebounds and four steals in the Cowboys' win over A&M on Saturday.
