Additional Day-1 wins came for Russian Nina Bratchikova and Romanian Alexandra Cadantu.

Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who is not defending her title this week, defeated former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic in last year's Monterrey finale.

This week's big winner will claim $37,000.
