Porto Alegre, Brazil – Ex-Brazil coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo was named new boss of Gremio on Tuesday, one day after Caio Junior was fired.
Luxemburgo will be officially introduced Thursday, when the 59-year-old will begin his latest challenge during a long coaching career. He coached Brazil from 1998-2000, and also led Real Madrid on the club level in 2004-05.
He last coached Flamengo from 2010-12, but was fired earlier this month. Over his career, Luxemburgo has won five Brazilian titles.
