Tepper tabbed to head Buffalo defense

The University at Buffalo has named Lou Tepper as its defensive coordinator.

Tepper has more than 35 years of Division I coaching experience, including a six-year run as head coach at Illinois. He guided the Fighting Illini to a record of 25-31-2 from 1991-96.

"I could not be more excited to be able to add to our staff a football coach like Lou Tepper," said Bulls head coach Jeff Quinn. "He brings with him tremendous experience, and a genuine love of teaching and coaching the game of football to young men. His accomplishments speak for themselves. I look forward to seeing what our defensive staff will be able to accomplish with Lou on board and an exciting group of returning letterwinners next fall."

Tepper also served as defensive coordinator at LSU from 1997-99, then went on to successful head coaching assignments at the Division II level. He posted a 40-26 mark at Edinboro and a 36-18 record at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Buffalo needed a replacement for William Inge, who left the school to take a position with the NFL's Buffalo Bills.
