The Cincinnati Reds have acquired infielder handed pitcher Jeremy Horst.

Valdez hit .249 with one home run and 30 RBI in 99 games for the Phillies in 2011. He played second base, shortstop and third base.

The 33-year-old has appeared in 362 career games with the White Sox, Mariners, Padres, Dodgers, Mets and Phillies, posting a .243 average with six homers and 92 RBI.

Originally selected by the Reds in the 21st round of the 2007 draft, Horst compiled a 2.93 ERA in 12 relief appearances for Cincinnati last year.

The Reds also signed pitcher Nick Masset to a two-year contract and infielder/outfielder Willie Harris to a minor league deal.

Masset went 3-6 with a 3.71 ERA in 75 relief appearances last season.

Last season with the Mets, Harris batted .246 with two home runs and 23 RBI. He is a career .240 hitter with 39 homers and 210 RBI.
