Balotelli charged with violent conduct

Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli game ban.

The incident occurred in Sunday's 3-2 win over Tottenham when Balotelli, who had already been yellow-carded, appeared to stomp on Spurs' Scott Parker.

However, referee Howard Webb missed the action and Balotelli went on to score the winning goal from the penalty spot in the 94th minute.

Balotelli has until Wednesday to respond to the charge, and if he accepts the allegation he will miss City's Carling Cup semifinal second leg against Liverpool as well as league matches with Everton, Aston Villa and Fulham.

If the Italian decides to appeal he will be eligible to play in Wednesday's Carling Cup contest, but could face an even longer suspension based on the fact that referee Webb has already told the FA that he would have sent Balotelli off had he seen the incident.
