AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng is expected to miss the next four weeks because of a thigh injury, the club announced on Wednesday.

Boateng sustained the problem in Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan, and will now miss at least the next four weeks.

A statement from AC Milan read: "Boateng has sustained a muscular lesion in his left thigh and the estimated time of recovery is around four weeks, unless there are complications."

The Ghana international is now likely to miss the club's next eight games, including the first leg of Milan's Champions League round of 16 meeting with Arsenal on February 15.

The 24-year-old has netted four goals in 12 Serie A appearances this term for the Rossoneri, who sit one point back of leaders Juventus in the league table.
