Edmonton Oilers second-year forward Taylor Hall was injured in pregame warmups on Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Hall was injured when he took a tumble in the right corner and was cut in the forehead by the skate of teammate Corey Potter.
Hall had to be helped to the dressing room and was later ruled out for Tuesday's game.
The Oilers are already missing forwards Jordan Eberele, who sprained his right knee on January 7 against the Dallas Stars, and 2011 first-overall pick Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who is on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
Hall, the 2010 first-overall pick, has 15 goals and 16 assists in 36 games this season.
