Oakland, CA – The Colorado Rockies have traded outfielder Seth Smith to the Oakland Athletics for starting pitchers Guillermo Moscoso and Josh Outman.
Smith, 29, hit .284 with 15 home runs and 59 RBI while stealing 10 bases last season for Colorado. In parts of five seasons with the Rockies, Smith posted a .275 career average with 51 homers and 181 RBI in 487 games played.
Moscoso, a 28-year-old rookie with Oakland last season, recorded an 8-10 mark with a 3.38 earned-run average -- second among American League rookies -- and 74 strikeouts.
The 27-year-old Outman returned last season following Tommy John surgery in June of 2009. In 13 games last season, Outman was 3-5 with a 3.70 earned-run average and 35 strikeouts.
