Manchester, England – Paul Scholes has already shaken off the rust from his short retirement.
The 37-year-old retired after last season's Champions League final, but he was back in a United jersey last weekend for a 3-2 FA Cup win over Manchester City and returned to the Premier League on Saturday.
After Wayne Rooney had a penalty kick saved midway through the first half, the England striker made up for it ran onto a loose ball and squared a pass to the far post for Scholes.
Although he spent the last six months on the sideline, the former England star had no trouble remembering where the net is, as he scored inside the left post for his latest goal in a now extended career.
The midfielder made his debut for United in 1994, and had nearly 70 minutes in his legs against Bolton before he was replaced by Ryan Giggs, another United legend.
The 38-year-old Giggs, who debuted for United in 1990, played his part to seal the win as, following a Danny Welbeck goal in the 74th, he set up the clincher from Michael Carrick in the 83rd.
United pulled level on points with Manchester City atop the standings, but its local rival plays Monday at Wigan. Bolton was unbeaten in two straight, but it slipped to 19th in the table, just one point above last-place Wigan.
Tottenham 1, Wolverhampton 1
London, England - Steven Fletcher's ninth goal this season, scored after just 22 minutes, was enough for Wolverhampton to grab a point from Tottenham on the road Saturday at White Hart Lane in the English Premier League with a 1-1 tie.
Luka Modric scored a deserved equalizer on 51 minutes, but Spurs failed to get another shot past Wolves goalie Wayne Hennessey despite dominating much of the play.
While Manchester United moved even on points with first-place Manchester City, Spurs wasted a chance to make it a three-way tie on points, as it settled for the draw and is two points back.
City can put more distance between the clubs Monday when it visits Wigan.
Wolverhampton, which is winless in seven straight, found the opener when Spurs goalie Brad Friedel knocked Roger Johnson's shot into the path of Fletcher and he converted from 8 yards.
Tottenham pulled level after Rafael Van der Vaart found Gareth Bale, who then assisted Modric for a blast from 20 yards through traffic.
Spurs did extend its unbeaten streak to seven - and has just one defeat in its last 19 - but will likely miss the two points lost if it remains in the title race.
Chelsea 1, Sunderland 0
London, England - Frank Lampard scored his ninth goal this season in the 13th minute as Chelsea edged Sunderland, 1-0, on Saturday at Stamford Bridge in the English Premier League.
The Blues snapped a four-game winless skid last time out against Wolverhampton and added a second straight win to secure fourth in the table. Sunderland lost for the first time in five games and is 11th in the standings.
Fernando Torres actually deserves much of the credit for the goal, as his shot off a scissor kick bounced off the crossbar and off Lampard to find the net. It was the third goal in as many matches for Lampard, who is tied for the team lead in scoring with Daniel Sturridge.
Sunderland had a few chances to level the score after half, but its last touch was poor on a few occasions as Chelsea held onto all three points.
Chelsea picked up two points on Tottenham for third place as Spurs settled for 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton on Saturday. Spurs is still six points clear.
Liverpool, England - Liverpool remained undefeated at Anfield with a 0-0 draw against Stoke City on Saturday in the English Premier League, but settled for a share of the points for the seventh time in 11 home fixtures.
City is the only other home unbeaten in the Premiership, but while the leaders have earned a maximum 30 points in their home games, Liverpool has accumulated just 19 out of a possible 33 points.
Dirk Kuyt had a few good chances, including a header just wide of the post and another into the side netting, but Liverpool could not find the winner as it lost ground on the top four and a Champions League spot.
Liverpool is sixth, five points behind fourth-place Chelsea after the Blues beat Sunderland on Saturday, 1-0.
Stoke City extended its unbeaten streak to four matches and sits eighth in the table following its sixth road result 11 matches.
Blackburn 3, Fulham 1
Blackburn, England - Blackburn surged off the foot of the Premier League table Saturday, as it downed Fulham 3-1 at Ewood Park despite playing down a man for about 70 minutes.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni was sent off after 22 minutes, but Morten Gamst Pedersen put Blackburn in front just before half, David Dunn added a goal in the opening minute of the second half, and Mauro Formica sealed the win late.
Blackburn won for the second time in its last three, and moved out of the last three and into 17th place - ahead of QPR on goal differential.
Damien Duff scored for Fulham, which had its three-game unbeaten streak ended. Fulham is 14th in the standings.
Aston Villa 1, Everton 1
Birmingham, England - Landon Donovan assisted on the match-winner for Victor Anichebe in the 69th minute as Everton was able to hold Aston Villa, 1-1, at Villa Park on Saturday in the English Premier League.
Darren Bent put Villa in front after 56 minutes with his seventh goal, but the visitors took a point when American Donovan - on a two-month loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy - thread a perfect through ball for Anichebe.
Anichebe ran onto the ball down the center of the pitch and directed a first- time shot past Villa goalie Shay Given from about 15 yards to the bottom-right corner.
Everton snapped a two-game losing streak to move to 10th in the standings, and Villa sits in 12th after it dropped points at home for the eighth time in only 11 matches this season.
Norwich City 2, West Bromwich 1
West Bromwich, England - Steve Morison scored his eighth goal of the season in the 79th minute as Norwich City escaped The Hawthorns with a 2-1 victory over West Bromwich on Saturday in the English Premier League.
Andrew Surman scored in the first half for Norwich and, after Shane Long tied the match from the penalty spot in the 68th for West Brom, Morison added the game-winner as Norwich continued its recent run of good form.
Norwich has just one defeat in its last seven, and its seventh road result in just 11 away matches has it ninth in the table. West Brom is winless in four and in 15th place.
