Melbourne, Australia – The women's draw for the Australian up Li Na, the fifth seed, in the quarterfinals in Melbourne.
The reigning French Open champion Li has beaten Wozniacki in their last three meetings, all in Australia.
Wozniacki, meanwhile, could meet 13th-seeded former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic in the fourth round, while Li's fourth-round opponent could be reigning Aussie Open champ and former No. 1 star Kim Clijsters, who topped the Chinese slugger in last year's Down Under finale. Clijsters is also a three- time U.S. Open champ.
The second quarter of the draw is spearheaded by No.3 Victoria Azarenka, who just titled in Sydney on Friday, while fourth-seeded Maria Sharapova and 12th- seeded Serena Williams headline the third quarter. The three-time major champion Sharapova was the Aussie champ back in 2008, while the 13-time Grand Slam winner and former No. 1 Williams owns a women's Open Era-record five championships in Melbourne.
Czech left-hander Petra Kvitova, who captured Wimbledon and WTA Championships titles and was named the WTA's player of the year in 2011, headlines the bottom quarter as the No. 2 seed. She could tangle with sixth-seeded U.S. Open champ and Aussie crowd favorite Sam Stosur in the quarters.
There are six current or former world No. 1 players in the Aussie draw in Wozniacki, Sharapova, Clijsters, Williams, Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic. There are nine Grand Slam champs in the draw in Kvitova, Sharapova, Li, Stosur, Francesca Schiavone, Clijsters, Williams, Svetlana Kuznetsova and the 2008 Aussie runner-up Ivanovic. And there are six players who could be No. 1 after the 2012 Aussie Open: Wozniacki, Kvitova, Azarenka, Sharapova, Stosur and Agnieszka Radwanska.
The newest Australian Open will get underway Monday.
