(Reuters) - The Anaheim Ducks have signed veteran defenseman Francois Beauchemin to a three-year contract extension, the National Hockey League club said on Friday.
Beauchemin, who helped the Ducks to their only Stanley Cup in 2007, will earn $3.5 million per season according to local media reports.
"Francois is a dedicated, versatile and hard-working defenseman who is committed to our organization," said Ducks general manager Bob Murray. "We are extremely pleased to have him under contract for the next three years."
Selected in the third round of the 1998 draft by the Montreal Canadians, Beauchemin also had stints with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Toronto Maples.
In 45 games with the Ducks this season Beauchemin had six goals and 12 assists.
