The Toronto Blue Jays have signed left-handed year contract. The deal will pay him $4 million this upcoming season and contains an option for the 2013 campaign.

Oliver, who will be entering his 19th big league season, appeared in 61 games for the American League champion Texas Rangers last season and went 5-5 with a pair of saves and a 2.29 earned run average.

The 41-year-old hurler pitched the first five-plus seasons of his career with the Rangers, before being shipped to St. Louis during the 1998 campaign. He returned to the Rangers as a free agent in 2000 before heading to Boston in 2002. He had also pitched for Colorado, Florida, Houston, the Mets, and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim before once again returning to Texas in 2010.

For his career, Oliver is 112-90 with a 4.60 ERA in 654 games (229 starts).

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Blue Jays designated infielder Mark Teahan for assignment.
