Red Wings activate Holmstrom from IR

The Detroit Red Wings activated forward Tomas Holmstrom from injured reserve Sunday after he missed five games with a groin injury.

Holmstrom, who has six goals and 15 points in 33 games this season, was injured during a win over Nashville on December 26.

Forward Gustav Nyquist, who was recalled when Holmstrom went on IR, was sent back down to Grand Rapids of the AHL.

The Red Wings were in Chicago for a game against the Blackhawks on Sunday.
