Take two: Kings sign Hayes to new contract

Sacramento, CA – The Sacramento Kings signed Chuck Hayes year contract on Thursday, just several days after voiding a deal when the forward failed a physical.

On Monday, Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie said in a statement that notifying Hayes of the failed physical was "one of the most heartbreaking moments of my professional or personal life."

But on Thursday, the two parties agreed to a new deal.

The 28-year-old averaged 7.9 points and 8.1 rebounds in 74 games with Houston last year. Hayes had been with the Rockets since entering the league in 2005-06.
