Arlington, TX – The Texas Rangers on Wednesday traded pitcher Ryan Kelly to the San Diego Padres in exchange for catcher Luis Martinez.
Martinez, who was added to the Rangers' major league roster, played in 22 games over three stints with San Diego in 2011. He hit .203 with one home run and 10 RBI. In 58 games at Triple-A Tucson, Martinez batted .323 with a homer and 28 RBI.
Kelly went 3-6 with a 3.95 earned run average in 40 appearances (five starts) for Single-A Myrtle Beach in 2011.
