The New Jersey Nets waived forward Travis Outlaw on Thursday and designated him as the team's amnesty player.

Under the amnesty clause, Outlaw will be paid the remainder of his contract by the Nets, but it will not count against the team's salary cap total. Each team can evoke the amnesty clause once over the life of the NBA's newly-signed 10-year collective bargaining agreement.

Outlaw played in all 82 games -- 55 starts -- with the Nets last season, averaging 9.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 28.8 minutes per game.

In 482 career games with the Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Clippers, and New Jersey, Outlaw has averaged 9.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
